HMRC have announced on Twitter http://twitter.com/hmrcgovuk that the Self-Assessment Tax Return filing deadline has been extended to 2 February 2012 due to industrial action.

"Tax return deadline is still 31 Jan. But HMRC will treat all returns by midnight 2 Feb as though they came in by 31 Jan"

 "You have until 2 Feb to file your tax return, but do it now to avoid a penalty"
